Legend of The Jersey Devil

A storm was raging outside a small cabin in a place called Leed’s Point in 1735. On that night a woman known as Mother Leeds gave birth to her 13th child. The child was born normally, but then changed before the midwives’ eyes into a demon and flew up and out the chimney to take residence in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey.

At least that’s one version of the story.
